Nessa Vercillo, CTBS
Senior Vice President Operations & Implementation
Nessa has over 20 years experience in the medical profession. She established a nationally recognized not-for-profit organization and served as its Executive Director for just less than 10 years and this dedication to her community has engendered numerous awards. She was the recipient of the Governor’s Award of Excellence, the Post Standard (the area’s principal newspaper) Woman of Achievement Award and a Distinguished Service Award by the Kiwanis International for her work that helped to establish a child abuse center for SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse, NY.
Nessa has worked extensively as a consultant with medical examiners, government and hospitals throughout the country. She has provided her expertise to develop review teams, policy for child death investigations, intervention programs, tissue recovery/transplant programs and associated research projects. She has been a member of the Strategic Planning Committee for Crouse Irving Hospital/PHO Women’s Services Task Group, Mayor’s Commission for Women Health Task force, a sub committee on medical/legal issues for area health and a steering committee member for Family Ties: A Community Health Network.
She has been involved in tissue banking for the last 8 years, with the American Red Cross Transplantation Services and most recently as a regional vice president for a nationwide, not-for-profit tissue bank, for which she was responsible for the eastern region of the country. Nessa is certified by the American Association of Tissue Banks as a Tissue Banking Specialist and has been involved in development, education, quality assurance including extensive medical chart reviews, CMS, FDA, the Joint Commission and regulatory compliance with tissue banks and healthcare facilities.
